Evelyn (White) Bowen

Evelyn White Bowen passed away Saturday, August 12th at Rockdale Medical Center. A native of Conyers/Rockdale County, she was born October 16, 1921 to Harry L. and Mary (Johnson) White. Mrs.Bowen grew up helping her parents with their funeral home business (Harry L. White Funeral Home) and she was a 1939 Conyers High School Class Member. Evelyn married her childhood sweetheart, Waldo Bowen in December of 1941, who later joined Mrs. Bowen’s parents in the operation of Harry L. White Funeral Home. Following the death of her parents, Mrs. Bowen continued to assist her husband in the funeral services as they became the owners and operators of Harry L. White Funeral Home.Until her retirement into The Remington House, 2005 Mrs. Bowen was active in a wide variety of volunteer organizations in the community. Mrs. Bowen continued to participate with the many activities at The Remington House following the passing of her husband in 2009. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards, adult coloring books, walking and visiting the local residents at Remington.

Mrs. Bowen is survived by her son, Chris Bowen and spouse Andrea of Conyers, Georgia, daughter Vickie Henry and spouse Rev. Reginald Henry of Covington, Georgia. Grandchildren, Mark Christopher Bowen Jr. and spouse Sarah of Watkinsville, Jordan Christopher Bowen and spouse Lindsey Bowen of East Atlanta Georgia, Ashley Spencer Henry and spouse Rev. Philadelphia Henry of Jefferson Georgia. Great Grandchildren, Mason Christopher Bowen, Madison Elizabeth Bowen, Max Russell all of Watkinsville, Ada Callie Victoria Henry of Jefferson Georgia.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 @ 3:00 pm in the Chapel of George W. Levett Sr. & Sons Funeral Home where Reverend David Collins will be officiating. Immediately following a private family committal service will be held at Green Meadows Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Also in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Conyers First United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime long member.
