Amy Joyner Putnam, 54, of Moultrie, and formerly of Brunswick, died Monday, June 12, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Rev. Hugh B. Ward and the Rev. Julian Griner officiating. Visitation will be immediately after the funeral service until 8:30 P.M.

Graveside rites will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick.

Amy was born April 3, 1963 in Brunswick, the daughter of the late Leon F. “Sonny” Joyner and Ovieda Cornelia Rittenhouse Joyner. She was a graduate of Glynn Academy in Brunswick and Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tn. She taught at Needwood Middle School in Brunswick before moving to Moultrie in 2006.

Amy and her husband, Warren, relocated to Moultrie when Warren accepted a position as Associate Director at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Amy learned to love Moultrie very quickly. She taught sixth grade Social Studies at Willie J. Williams Middle School until 2015, when her battle with cancer forced her to retire. She adored everyone at the school and influenced many students. Warren retired in 2015 to spend as much time as possible with her.

Amy was blessed with a beautiful voice, sang in church for many years, and was a former worship leader. She accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ many years ago.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Jones; her aunts, Clara Gronroos and Lucy Sutton; and a step-son, Darin Putnam.

Survivors include her husband of sixteen years, Warren Hancock Putnam of Moultrie; her daughter, Abigail Margaret “Abi” Jones of Athens, Ga.; two step-sons, Glenn Putnam of Brunswick and Chris Putnam and Tasha of Austin, Tx.; two brothers, Leon F. “Rocky” Joyner and wife Ann of Kennesaw, Ga. and Eddy Joyner and wife Ava of Nashville, Tn.; aunt, Edna Lazaro of Brunswick; special cousins, Mauri Lazaro, Bill Gronroos, Connie Godley and husband Gene all of Brunswick; nephew, Leon F. “Trey” Joyner III and wife Lizzy of Smyrna, Ga.; niece, Ashley Duncan and husband Jonathan of Kennesaw, Ga.; great niece Caroline Joyner of Smyrna, Ga.

Amy’s family wishes to thank the Oncology Center at Colquitt Regional Medical Center for their loving care as well as the entire staff of Colquitt Regional Medical Center for their absolutely wonderful care throughout her cancer journey.
